Summary of Animoto: Animoto is a video making software/website that you use to create videos, add songs, text and photos. You then can share those videos with others. It is a free program that teachers can use in their classrooms with their students. Anyone who has Internet can go online and go to https://animoto.com and create free videos.
Pros and Cons of Animoto: Some pros of animoto are; that it is easy to follow, fast and fun to produce videos, and easy to share with others once it is produced. You don’t have to spend a ton of time producing the video, which is great for classrooms that need a quick video but don’t have a lot of classroom time to produce it. Another pro is that it is free, so you cant go wrong with it! Cons are that there isn’t a lot of choices and room for flexibility when if comes to creating your videos. It can be frustrating at times because you don’t have many choices for music.
How Animoto can be used in the classroom: Animoto can be used in any subject area, and in my opinion can comfortably be used with grades 3rd-4th grade and up. It may get a little confusing or overwhelming for students in the younger grades. Teachers can create videos for their students to gear them in for a new lesson or activity that they will be doing, or students can create video instead of writing papers to explain a book that they have read or create a video to “show and tell” things about themselves for a beginning of class ice breaker. Animoto can be used for so many tings in the classroom and it makes it fun and engaging with the students to be sharing information in a new and creative way.
